A Furrier Future for AI

OpenAI today introduced Fluffy, a half-robot, half-Bernese mountain dog hybrid as its new corporate mascot. Fluffy has soft fur, glowing blue eyes, and a tail that wags when the company hits a training milestone. The official press release describes Fluffy as 'a symbol of warmth, loyalty, and safe, aligned intelligence'. Internally, Fluffy is already more popular than the last three product launches combined.

Engineers Immediately Asked to Build Fluffy

Within hours of the announcement, engineers were asked to 'make Fluffy real' by Q3. One team was reassigned from safety research to 'emotional tail-wagging benchmarks'. A leaked Slack thread shows a senior researcher asking, 'Do we really need another dog-themed project right now?' followed by a single response: 'Fluffy is not a dog project. Fluffy is a brand strategy.'

Fluffy Enters the Mascot Arms Race

Industry watchers say Fluffy is OpenAI's answer to the growing 'mascot gap' in AI. 'People are tired of abstract logos and ominous mission statements,' said one analyst. 'They want something they can pet, or at least imagine petting, while their jobs get automated.' Rumor has it that a rival lab is already working on a cybernetic corgi.
